From 2002 to 2008 as Mexican Delegate, (member of the Executive Committee) of the Implementing Agreement on Industrial Energy-related Technologies ans Systems (IETS) of the International Energy Ageny (IEA). Member of the Scientific Council and of the Executive Committee of the International Centre for Applied Thermodynamics (ICAT). Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE); American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME); Association of Energy Engineers (AEE); Environmental Engineers and Managers Institute (EEMI); Instituto Mexicano de Ingenieros Químicos (IMIQ); French Association for the Promotion of Efficient Use of Energy (ADPM) and French Society of Thermal Engineers (SFT). Organizer and member of numerous international and national conferences. He was a member of the Scientific Committee ECOS annual international conference since 1999, being the Chairman of its 17th Edition ECOS 2004, held in Mexico.

RESEARCH LINES

Among the projects he has directed include the Analysis and Optimization of Processes for Refining and Petrochemicals (Exergy Method) and the Development of Technology diabatic distillation (distillation with internal heat integration). The lines of research are focused on the model of the 3 E's (Energy, Economy, Ecology), sustainable development of the oil industry, electricity, petrochemical and process in general, such as:

  •  Diabatic desi.
  •  Heat pumps.
  •  Fuel Cells.
  •  Cogeneration, trigeneration and polygeneration.
  •  Integrated gasification combined cycle.
  •  Alternate processes for hydrogen production: thermolysis of steam cracking of hydrogen
     sulphide, reformation redirected, plasmolysis, etc.
  •  Kalina Cycle.
  •  Fuel Cells.
  •  Simulation of process steady state and dynamic simulation.
  •  Exergy, exergoeconomic and exergoecologyc analysis.
  •  Process integration (pinch generalized method, water pinch, pinch hydrogen).
  •  Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  •  Exergy Life Cycle Analysis (ELCA).

He has authored over 150 articles in refereed journals, and has about 250 citations to them, has written numerous book chapters, edited two books, plus a considerable number of technical reports of projects in which he has participated and / or directed. He has authored over 60 technical articles and book chapters published in forums and national and international journals. He has participated in numerous international conferences in Europe, Asia and North America and has also taught courses and conferences in France, Scotland, Germany, Canada and Brazil. He has directed 13 theses: one undergraduate, 11 master's and a doctorate in institutions such as UNAM, IFP (France), UABC and IMP. Currently working on the implementation of other thesis.
